My First Sweater

So, after a year of knitting practice, and lots of hats, scarfs, and fingerless gloves, I decided to try my hand and making sweaters.

My first project was a baby sweater. Children's sweaters are a little simpler because don't require as much shaping. I decided to use a drop sleeve design and a simple sleeve.

Designing items for my etsy shop and learning new techniques is always somewhat of a challenge. Designing this sweater took a some trial and error, ripping and re-knitting, to get it right. I originally gave this sweater a simple ribbed collar, but it gave the sweater to much of a sporty look. Wanting it to look softer, I substituted it for a pretty picot collar that came out a little ruffly.

In addition, me, being, well; me, when for a complex blackberry stitch for the body of the sweater. I love the lacy feel it gives the design.

For this sweater, I used a second hand pink acrylic yarn and buttons repurposed from a worn out men's dress shirt.

Crochet Car Cozy

I am kind of obsessed by cleaver uses of knit and crochet work. So, I thought I would share this little gem with you.

That's right; it's a care cozy. Apparently, It was created by Magda Sayeg for the Il Lusso Essenziale art festival in Rome.

As cute as it is though, I might be a pain to wash.

Etsy Finds: Luscious Lemons

I found a fabric that I am absolutely in love with. Insane in love. I want to go out and buy a whole bolt of fabric even though I don't know what to do with it and the sewing machine is broken, in love. Here it is:

I love the bright yellow lemons, the dark yellow lemons, the white lemons outlined in yellow, the little lime green leaves. Everything!

Apparently, I am not alone, because I found tons of stuff on etsy made from this fabric.

This is my favorite:

This adorable little rain coat from Sparrowhills is cute enough to almost make me wish I had a toddler to put it on. (Just almost).

This great coat is also reversible, but, I don't know why anyone would want to.

I also really love this pillowcase dress from Creative Bee. I especially love how the polka-dot trim accents the lemons. I can just see this on a little blond toddler.

The lemons aren't just for the kids either. I am in love with this little lemon clasp purse from Lena Lime Studio. I can see myself tucking this little cutie under my arm this summer and heading off to the farmer's market.
