Crochet Car Cozy

I am kind of obsessed by cleaver uses of knit and crochet work. So, I thought I would share this little gem with you.

That's right; it's a care cozy. Apparently, It was created by Magda Sayeg for the Il Lusso Essenziale art festival in Rome.

As cute as it is though, I might be a pain to wash.

Etsy Finds: Luscious Lemons

I found a fabric that I am absolutely in love with. Insane in love. I want to go out and buy a whole bolt of fabric even though I don't know what to do with it and the sewing machine is broken, in love. Here it is:

I love the bright yellow lemons, the dark yellow lemons, the white lemons outlined in yellow, the little lime green leaves. Everything!

Apparently, I am not alone, because I found tons of stuff on etsy made from this fabric.

This is my favorite:

This adorable little rain coat from Sparrowhills is cute enough to almost make me wish I had a toddler to put it on. (Just almost).

This great coat is also reversible, but, I don't know why anyone would want to.

I also really love this pillowcase dress from Creative Bee. I especially love how the polka-dot trim accents the lemons. I can just see this on a little blond toddler.

The lemons aren't just for the kids either. I am in love with this little lemon clasp purse from Lena Lime Studio. I can see myself tucking this little cutie under my arm this summer and heading off to the farmer's market.

Friday Feature: The Full Spectrum

So, one of the things I want to do with this blog is to feature other awesome local sellers and their work. The first seller I am featuring is The Full Spectrum; a maker or the cutest hand printed t-shirts for women and babies I have ever seen. Seriously, I want everything she makes.

I first found The Full Spectrum while shopping the Downtown Farmers Market last summer and immediately fell in love with her shop. Throughout the summer, my family bought tons of her stuff. I just couldn't resist.

One of my very favorite designs is this poppy. The Full Spectrum has used this poppy on a variety of stuff and I want every one of them. I also love that she has bugs, owls, octopi, dandelions, and tons of other incredible styles.

Her baby stuff is equally awesome with everything from vintage rocking horses, pegasusi, and praying mantises. I really can't stand how cute everything is.

The only thing regrettable about The Full Spectrum is that the Downtown Farmers Market doesn't open till June, and it hasn't been warm enough yet here in Salt Lake to wear these awesome tees.

UPDATE: If you can't wait for June and don't want to order online, The Full Spectrum will be at Craft Sabbath the first Sunday in May at 315 East 300 South.

Tuesday Trendwatch: Lacy Knits

Another incredible trend I have noticed this spring, along with crochet, are lacy little knits. These open work knits offer a variation on crochet treads and are just right for warm spring days and hot summer night.

Hollister's spring line features this cute little sweater and this fun vest. Either of these would look great over a little tank or a swim suit at the beach.

Urban Outfitters
' line includes this cute cardigan that I think would look great with a pair of skinny jeans and heels.

Forever 21
also features a line of lacy knit sweaters including this cute little number, this adorable tank top, and this hot black beret.

I love all of these for summer with a short skirt, skinny jeans, and strappy sandals.

A note on finding these trends: Many of these sweaters and accessories are tagged as crochet while closer inspection reveals them to be knit. Knit and crochet really are not the same thing though they can sometimes produce similar looks. When searching for these trends, I found that searching the word crochet got me better results.

Spring in the City

Yesterday, an awesome shop called ZionShore featured my grey fingerless gloves in her Spring in the City treasury.

She also included a lot of other really cute stuff that you should check out. And, while you are at it, check out ZionShore's shop because she makes some positively delightful jewelry. My favorite is her bottle necklace.

April Showers Abound

April showers abound; and this isn't just a weather report. Last night, I created my own April Showers treasury list built around my April Showers scarf. I also featured some amazing products from some awesome sellers that you should check out.

As you may remember, TheLoudLion created an April Showers treasury last week also featuring my April showers scarf.

Not an hour after creating my April Showers treasury, I got a convo on etsy from Simply Suzula featuring my scarf in yet another April Shower treasury.

Will this trend ever end? I sure hope not.

Slice of History: '80s Beatknits Sweaters

Today I came across this awesome 1987 advertisement from Billboard Magazine featuring Beatknits sweaters.

The musical instrument motifs and stylings take me back in time.

Tuesday Trendwatch

There is a new trend in spring and summer fashion that I have been really excited about: Crochet. It's everywhere. Forever 21 has an extensive line of crochet items including sweaters, tank tops, fingerless gloves, and berets. Some of my favorites include this dress, and these fingerless gloves.

Some of the trends feature more classic styling and others are hippy throwbacks; some offer a balance of the two.

Crochet work has also been spotted in Urban Outfitters spring line. I really love this crochet back cardigan, and this crochet pencil skirt. Urban Outfitters even offers a sexy black crochet swimsuit.

American Eagle Outfitters is also offering a selection of crochet items including crochet edged t-shirts and tanks, crochet edged bracelets, and crochet edged leggings.

Even Hollister is featuring this sweater, and J Crew this classic dress.

Anthropologie pulled out all the stops this season with crochet necklaces, tops, tanks, and even toys.

The bottom line is that crochet is here and I am loving ever bit of it.

Baby Hats for Spring

The last few weeks I have been crocheting baby hats like crazy. Now I have a bunch of new spring designs I have added to my esty shop. I have been experimenting with different styles and colors to come up with a great line. Here are a few of my new hats.

April Showers

So, with April almost here, I was planning on making a treasury themed April Showers to feature my April Showers Scarf. But, much to my surprise, TheLoudLion beat me to the punch.

Not only was this an amazing coincidence, but, I found that TheLoudLion has a raindrop necklace that I love.

What Goes Around Comes Around

When I created my nautical treasury a few days ago, I featured a really really cute tote bag by Bayan Hippo which sold out today (maybe with the help of my feature?).

So, much to my delight, Bayan Hippo created a treasury list today featuring my super cute hand knit Easter Egg.

A Slice of History

Not to long ago, I came across this awesome Time magazine fashion spread from 1959 featuring what they call "beat-knit" sweaters.

What I love about this fashion spread is that the sweaters are inspired by the beatniks; on the social fringe. These are the more cleaned up versions marketed to college students. Fashion evolution is great.

Etsy Treasury List

So, I got up early this morning to try to snag a spot in the Etsy treasury. For sometime, I have been wanting to post a nautical themed treasury list featuring my Women's Nautical Hat. After several failed attempts to snag a treasury spot, I finally got one.

You can see the treasury on etsy by clicking here.

Not only was I able to snag a spot for my hat, but I was able to feature a couple of my favorite Utah sellers. The Full Spectrum Designs is an awesome t-shirt designer that I found last summer at the Downtown Farmers Market. She has been a favorite of mine ever since.

I also featured a fabulous steam punk jeweler from Bountiful; Steam Trunk Studio. I found these guys on etsy and love their stuff. I especially love their Fall in the Wasatch necklace.
